Soap Made From Pilchard Oil
CAPE TOWN. With the increased activity of the South African pilchard fleet, new uses are being found for the oil derived from the fish. At the processing factory at Dido Valley, Simonstown, blue mottled and yellow soap is being manufactured. Production is 120 tons a month, and more than 25 tons of candles have also been produced. This is in addition to cooking fats, oils and meal.
