PUBLIC NOTICES PAPARUA COUNTY COUNCIL ALTERATION TO COUNCIL REPRESENTATION PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the powers conferred on it by The Counties Act, 1956, and all other powers and authorities vested in it, the Paparua County Council at a Special Meeting held in the Council Chambers. Sockburn, on Tuesday, June 2, 1959. resolved by way of Special Order to alter the representation on the Council as follows: 1. In lieu of twleve members the Paparua County Council shall consist of eleven members who shall be elected as follows: The electors of the, Sockburn and Hornby Ridings shall elect two members for each riding and the electors or Islington, Templeton, Yaldhurst, West Melton. Piebbieton, Broadfield and Ladbrooks shall elect one member for each riding. 2. The alteration hereby made in the number of members of the said Council shall take effect at the general election of Councillors to be held in the month of November. 1959, except in so far as to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing for that election. A full copy of the Special Order is deposited at the Council Offices. Sockburn, and is open to the inspection of the public during office hours until Monday. July 6. 1959. The Special Order will be submitted for confirmation at the Ordinary Meeting of the Council to be held in the Council Chambers, Sockbvirn, at 7.15 p.m. on Monday. July 6, 1959. RACECOURSE, OBRIENS AND HAYTONS ROADS NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of . the powers conferred upon it by the Counties Act, 1956, the Water Supply Act, 1908, and Amendments thereto, the Paparua County Council, at a Special Meeting held on Tuesday, June 2, 1959, passed a resolution by way of Special Order to discontinue the water race scheduled hereunder as from October 7. 1959.

Any person entitled to use water from such water races may. within one month of the date of the Special Order, apply to a Magistrate’s Court for an Order setting aside the Special Order* of the Council.

SCHEDULE The race is to be discontinued from a point on Buchanans road, approximately 20 chains north-west of its junction with Racecourse road, where the race divides to supply the Abattoirs. This race at present proceeds down Buchanans road through to Racecourse road and along Racecourse road to O’Briens road. It goes down O’Briens road and passes through to Epsom road and travels down Epsom road and turns in through several properties to Main South road opposite the County Offices. It then crosses Main South road and runs across Blenheim road and through the Ministry of Works Southern Plant Depot across the Stock Route and Main South Railway Line and through the Abattoir holding paddocks to finish in Pt. R.S. 234 at ‘ he corner of Haytons and Mid-Llncoln roads.

A full copy of the Special Order describing in detail the races to be discontinued, together with a plan showing such races, is deposited at the County Offices. Sockbum. and is open to the inspection of the public during office hours until the 6th day of July, 1959. , *The Special Order will be submitted for confirmation at the Ordinary Meeting of the Council, to be held in the Council Offices. PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the powers conferred on it by “The Counties Act, 1956,’’ “The Health Act, 1956,” anjd "The Dogs Registration Act, 1955, ’ and all other powers and authorities vested in It, the Paparuh County Council at a Special Meeting held in the Council Chambers, Sockburn, on Tuesday, the 2nd June, 1959, resolved by way of Special Order to make the following bylaw:— 1. Paparua County By-law No. 30, 1959. 2. The owner of any dog or the person having for the time being control of any dog within the County of Paparua shall cause such dog to be tied up or otherwise confined during the period commencing from half an hour after sunset on any day to half an hour before sunrise on the following day. 3. No dog shall be deemed to be tied up or confined within the meaning of this By-law unless such dog is so tied up or confined as to completely prevent it from •» straying from the property of the owner or person having control as aforesaid. 4. No person shall suffer any dog owned by him or in his charge to be upon any footpath abounding or abutting any shop premises within the County of Paparua unless such dog' is kept under continuous control while thereon by an' effective lead or container. 5. No person owning, having control, or charge of any mangy or diseased dog or any female dog in season, shall take the same into any public place or permit or suffer such dog to enter or remain thereon or wander free and at large. 6. Every person who shall commit any breach oi this By-law shall be liable for every such offence to a penalty of Ten Pounds (£10). A full copy of the above By-law is deposited at the Council Offices, Sockburn, and is open to the inspection of the public during office hours until Monday, July 6, 1959. LICENCES which expire on June 30, 1959, may now be renewed at the County Offices, Sockburn. Licences are available for any number of years up to five, except to drivers required to produce medical certificates who may renew for one year only. The licence fee is five shillings per year plus one shilling if a licence cover is required. RENEWAL BY MAIL. With the exception of renewals which require a medical certificate or a driving test, licences previously issued by the Paparua County Council may be renewed by mail, provided the following are forwarded to the County Offices, Sockburn:— 1. Licence to be renewed. 2. Licence fee (as stated above). 3. Stemped* addressed envelope for return of licence. A.
