Knighthoods For 13 (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, June 13. Thirteen Australians received knighthoods from the Queen in this year’s Birthday honours list published in the London Gazette today. More than 170 Australians were among the hundreds throughout the Commonwealth who received awards.

Two Australians became Knights Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. They are the Most Rev. James Duhig, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane, and Albert Asher Wolff, Chief Justice of Western Australia.

Three others were made Knights Commander of the British Empire—Sir John Allison, chairman of business administration, Department of Defence, and chairman of the Export Development Council, of the Department of Trade; Mr Walter E. Bassett, a consulting engineer, of Armadale, Victoria, for public services and Mr E. E. Warren, of Sydney, for services to the coal industry. Other Australians receiving knighthoods were:

Arthur Harold Tange, Secretary of the Department of External Affairs.

Herbert Leon Trout, of Everton Park, Queensland, for public services.

Sidney Barton Pope, of South Australia, for services to public and charitable organisations. Edgar Barton Coles, for public and philanthropic services in Victoria.

Frederick William Thomas, Lord Mayor of Melbourne.
