(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, June 12. The New Zealand-born Camden professor of ancient history at Oxford, Dr. Ronald Syme, is among the new knights created by the Queen in the Queen’s Birthday honours list published in the London Gazette today.

Other new knights include the well-known stage and film actor, Michael Redgrave, and Stanley Spencer, the painter. . * The 2400 honours, distributed among United Kingdom and Commonwealth citizens of all ages and walks of life, included a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for Billy Wright, England’s soccer captain, and an offlcership of the same order for Bud Flanagan, one of London’s longest established comedians. 1

Ranging over science, politics, sport and the armed forces, the list included three barons. They are Sir Patrick Spens, former Chief Justice of India and a member of Parliament; Sir Thomas Dugdale, member of Parliament; and Sir John Forster, President of the Industrial Court.
