NEW AWARD FOR WRITERS
Katherine Mansfield Memorial Prize
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 4.
The establishment of a biennial Katherine Mansfield memorial award open to both men and women, resident in New Zealand was announced today by the General Manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Mr R. D Moore
The first period of the award will cover two sections—a short story and a prose essay or article Entries will close on August 31 and all must have been published within the two years ended August 31 The value of the 1959 award will be 50 guineas for the best short story and 50 guineas for the best essay or article. Entries will be made through the New Zealand Women Writers’ Society.
