Quarter-Final Of Men’s Singles (N Z Press Association—Cony ria ht) PARIS. May 27. The Italian players. Nicola Pietrangeli and Orlando Slrola. fought their way into the semi-finals of the French tennis championships tndav by beating Billv Knight and Tonv Pickard. of Britain, in a match which was a highlight of the dav. The score was 6-2. 3-6. 1-6. 7-5, 8-6. The two Australian pairs. Neale Fraser and Roy Bmerson and Rod Laver and Bob Mark, also won their quarter-final* today. Fraser and Emerson beat the Brazilians, Roland Barnes and Carins Fernandez, after a marathon fourth set that went for 68 minute*, with a score of 13-11. Laver and Mark easily beat France's Grinds and Molinar, 6-4, 6-4. 6-0 Christine Truman (Britain), who tomorrow has a vital semi-fin’<l singles match against the South African. Sandra Reynolds, today teamed up with Mrs Shirley Brasher ito enter the semi-finals of the | women’s doubles. The British girls beat the unseeded Australian youngsters, Norma 1 Marsh and Dawn Thomas. I In the semi-final, they will meet i the holdsrs of the title, the colourI ful Mexicans. Yola Ramirez and • Rosa-Maria Reyes, who beat Pat i Htrd, of Britain, and Christine MerI cells, of Belgium. 6-3. 6-3.
