HIGH SCHOOLS ON PERIMETER
Effect On Outer Areas
i The Canterbury Education Board has no proposals to provide (secondary education which would affect the “area of responsibility” of the Christchurch Post-primary Schools’ Council. The board had idone some investigation on such | demands in the Belfast-Kaiapoi 'area; but no definite proposals had been “promulgated.” This information was received in answer to the council’s inquiry in relation to the planning of new high schools near the perimeter of Christchurch. Just the same, the council should ask to be kept informed of any future plans of the board, said Mr Duncan Mackay. If secondary I education wap provided at Belfast, lit could affect high school numbers in the north of Christchurch. Would Belfast not come within our area of responsibility? inquired the secretary (Mr P. J. Halligan). “We have no defined area,” said Mrs L. J. Broomfield. It was agreed to keep in touch with the Education Board.
