BRANCH LINE CLOSING
Delay Sought By Deputation
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 27.
A four-man deputation asked the Minister of. Railways (Mr Moohan > in Auckland today to delay the closing of the Donnelly’s crossing branch line' near Dargaville, scheduled for July 18 It was reported afterwards the deputation received a ‘‘courteous hearing.” Mr Moohan promised he would take up with the chairman of the National Roads Board, the matter of road access to the area, and would give every support to the provision of a proper highway without delay. The deputation comprised Mr J. A. Simpkin, chairman of the Hobson County Council, Mr S. S. Green, Mayor of Dargaville,. Mr W. Davison, representing the Northern Wairoa sub-province of the Federated Farmers and Mr A. W. Davies, Dargaville Chamber of Commerce.
