Colombo Street
Sir, —To set back footpaths 7ft on either side from Moorhouse avenue to the/Avon is r from a business point of view, uneconomical and illogical, giving no Consideration to those whose building frontages make up Colombo street. Either close Colombo street to all parking, with only essential buses using it, A the others using Durham and Manchester streets more frequently on bus routes, or, if congestion, still forms, move the main bus terminal from’ the square to Latimer square and close Colombo street to buses. These propositions would not endanger the business area financially or otherwise. When the council finishes playing ducks and drakes and gives consideration to the public, they will then gain their confidence.—Yours, etc., tf.F.G. May 21, 1959.
