Details Of Accident Gases
A "more efficient and satisfactory ” scheme for the release of required details to the press concerning accident cases was being investigated, reported the hospital committee to the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday. A satisfactory arrangement had been arrived at with the Police regarding hospital-Police relations. Police service at the hospital would be based, on a small group of men being- regularly detailed. “It is confidently anticipated that closer relations will thus be achieved to the benefit of the board and patients alike.” reported the committee. The board decided to make displays of work of all departments in. a glass case in the visitors' waiting room.
Lyttelton CuaalUes.—While the desirability of retaining casualty services at Lyttelton was recognised, the hospital committee reported to the board that no action should be taken on incorporating a casualty room at Lyttelton Hospital until the road tunnel was completed. The casualty ward will be retained until then. X-Ray Machine.— The Health Department intimated that the board should not undertake the responsibility of providing X-ray facilities in hospitals of the type and size of Bangiora hospital. The hospital committee was asked to make a further investigation. Gift to Kalkoura.—A gift of £lOO has been given by Mr John Boyd in appreciation of his treatment as a patient in Kaikoura Hospital. Chief Dietician.— Miss M. B. Till was appointed chief dietician at Cashmere Hospital. Retiring Porter.—Appreciation was expressed of the services of Mr A. J. Arnold, who has retired as porter at Cashmere Sanatorium after 31 years. He was a patient there for six years before joining the staff.
