Woolworths Firm In Active Market
Woolworths shares changed hands in Christchurch yesterday at 16s 3d, compared with 15s 8d in Christchurch on Monday. North Island business was written at 16s and 16s 3d on Tuesday.
Clyde Industries sold at 12s 9d, and unchanged, and at 12s lOd. Commercial Bank of Australia, M.C.P., Reid Murray and Whakatane Board Mills also improved. Interest in M.C.P. has quickened with the approach of the dividend announcement and the shares are now nearly Is above their lowest point this year. Ampol shares and rights eased.
, T -^ppa rent ly unaffected by the news of the dispute at Islington, N.Z. Refrigerating shares sold at 34s though an afternoon seller quoting 34s 3d evoked no response. The dispute has come to a head near the end of the export season.
Buyers for Kaiapoi Woollen raised their bids 2d above the last sale price without attracting a seller.
