More Britons At Work
(Rec 11 p.m.) LONDON. May 27. Unemployment in Britain tell by 50,000 to a provisional 481,000 in the month ended May 11. the Ministry of Labour announced today. The number of unemployed this month has been 2.2 per cent, of the total employed, compared with 2.4 per cent, in April. In May last year it was 2.1 per cent.
Of the 481.000 at present unemployed, 444,000 are wholly unemployed and 37,000 are temporarily stopped from work. Of the 50,000 who found work during the last month. 42.000 had been wholly unemployed and 8000 temporarily stopped. The number of persons registered in Northern Ireland on May 11 was 37,800 (8 per cent), 400 more than on April 13.
