Applications should state age, marital status, experience, qualifications and particulars of previous and present employment. and should be accompanied by not less than three testimonials as to character and ability. Applicants must hold the Health Inspectors and Meat and Food Inspectors Diplomas of the Royal Society of Health. A Diploma in tropical hygiene would also be an advantage. The successful applicant will be required to supervise staff of two senior and eight junior Assistant Inspectors and other auxiliary staff. Salary will be at the rate of £FI4OO by annual increments of £5O to a maximum of £F1750. A residence will be provided by the Council for which the successful applicant will be required to contribute 10 per cent, of his salary. In addition to the usual Public Holidays, the successful applicant will be eligible, after three years’ service, to 108 days’ vacation leave on full salary and will be granted up to three adult passages for self, wife and children to Australia or New Zealand. In addition to the foregoing, 14 days’ local leave may be taken between each overseas leave. The successful applicant will be required to pass a medical examination before leaving New Zealand. After the satisfactory completion of the probationary period, he will be placed on the permanent staff of the council and thereafter his engagement will be at the pleasure of the Council and will ordinarily be terminated by three months’ notice on either side.
