“HONEYBONE DAY”
Family Reunion In City Honeybones from many parts of the South Island met in the city on Saturday for the annual reunion of the family on “Honeybone Day.” Altogether 110 of the 150 members of the family in New Zealand were present at the celebration in the Selwyn street lodge hall. They heard the announcement of the engagement of Miss Beryl Honeybone, of Hawarden, to Mr John Street, of Amberley. Miss Honeybone is a granddaughter of Mr Peter Honeybone who came to New Zealand in the Crusader in 1872.
The gathering, which included members of the family from Dunedin and Nelson, met in the afternoon for an informal gettogether and family photographs before a banquet in the evening Entertainment and a dance took up the rest of the evening. The oldest member of the family at the reunion was Mr George Honeybone, of Waikari, aged 80; the youngest member was four-months-old Jane Sinclair, whose mother was a Honeybone.
