Tibet
Sir,—“Old China Hand” is still suffering from the pessimism following Suez, Cyprus, and Eire. In fact, his replies seem to have adopted the motto, “What’s the good of anything? Why, nothing.” Apparently, be is registering the pessimism that has eaten into the British governing classes. Personally, I do not rely upon their hoary ideas and good intentions. The fact Is that both Britain and New Zealand’ are spending too much money on bombs and war preparation instead of using brains. The feudal forces of Tibet are being eliminated to make way for economic progress forced on the Chinese working classes to keep them from starv.ng. You cannot put back the clock of history.—Yours, etc..
