Profit Of £497 Shown A profit of £497 for the year ended March 31 last, is shown in the re- ' port of the president (Mr L. W. 1 Davison) to be presented at the annual meeting of the Waimate 1 Trotting Club next Thursday. Totalisator turnover at the club’s annual race meeting in December had shown a rise on the previous , year, and was the second highest < on-course turnover recorded by the < club. On-course, the turnover was £25.157 ss. an increase of £2913 15s. : and off-course the total was £25,940 15s. an increase of £2150 ss. The Waimate club was among a minority which this year has shown an increase in on-course figures, says the report. Stakes were increased : by £lOO, but the amount paid towards the upkeep and improvements at the racecourse were reduced considerably. The report mentions the high-class ! field which contested the Third New Zealand Golden Slipper Stakes, and < the introduction to the programme ] of the Roi I’Or Stakes, a race for < three-year-old pacers. Visitors For Nelson

Arrangements have been made by Mr A. H. Todd for two plane-loads of trotting enthusiasts to fly from Christchurch to the Nelson Trotting Club’s winter meeting on June 6 and 8. The president of the Nelson club (Mr J. T. Hill) and a member of the Nelson Jockey Club (Mr R Hooper) were in Christchurch completing arrangements earlier in the week. Mr Hill said there would also be 27 visitors flying from Cambridge for the meeting.
