FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—A depression is moving eastwards off the North Island. A cold front is advancing on to the South Island from the south-west. Forecast:— West Coast.—Moderate westerly winds; a few scattered showers developing this morning, becoming fair in South Westland this afternoon; cool temperatures. Outlook: mainly fair. Marlborough, except the Kaikoura coast and Nelson.— Moderate variable winds: weather fair and cool in most places; some showers about the ranges this afternoon. Outlook: fair. Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury.—Variable winds at first, moderate to fresh south-westerlies developing this morning; cloudy skies and some showers; temperatures cold. Outlook: fair.
