Commander L. G. Carr, the newly-appointed commanding officer of H.M.N.Z.S. Otago—the first Whitby class frigate which the Royal New Zealand Navy will take delivery of later in the year—will visit Christchurch to address members of the Canterbury division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve on his new command next Monday. Mr G. D. Robb and Dr. L. Bastings have been reappointed members of the -ledical Research Council. Mr Robb represents the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and Dr. Bastings represents the Royal Society of New Zealand. Mr M. J. Russell, who recently retired from the position of manager of the London and Lancashire Insurance Company, Ltd., was the guest of honour at a farewell function held by the I Canterbury Fire and Accident | Underwriters’ Association, at i which a presentation was made.
