MAN’S DEATH AFTER OPERATION
Inquest Concluded
The Coroner (Mr E. B. E. Taylor) found that David William Buchanan, a~ed 63, a flourmiller, of Ashburton, died at Christchurch on March 28, the cause of death being acute heart failure due to pulmonary embolism, when the inquest was concluded this week. The Coroner added that he was satisfied that the operation which Buchanan underwent at Calvary Hospital had nothing to do with the cause of his death. Dr. N. F. Greenslade said Buchanan underwent an operation and his progress was satisfactory until March 25 when Dr. W. M. Cotter was called in. They agreed it was necessary to remove a clot and this was done on March 28. Buchanan’s condition appeared to be good and he was being taken to his room when he suddenly stopped breathing. Artificial respiration was tried without success.
