May Be Able To Lead Team In Britain

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 14. It is practically certain that the New Zealand women’s golf champion, Miss Nicki Campbell, of Nelson, will be fit enough to compete in the British women’s championship which begins at the Berkshire course on May 25. Miss Campbell was reported this evening to be making good progress in convalescence from the chickehpox which afflicted her last week on the eve of the departure of the New Zealand representative team. According to Mrs J. R. Morris, who is chairman of the Ladies’ Golf Union, Miss Campbell will be fit ehough to practise in a few days. Arrangements are being made for her to leave Auckland by air on Thursday, arriving in London on the day before the opening of the tournament. This allows her at least a week in England before the opening of the first Commonwealth tournament on the old course at St. Andrews.
