DISMISSAL OF RANGER
Executive Faces Stormy Meeting (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, May 14. Members of the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society, at a special meeting in Napier last night, called on the society’s executive to reconsider its action in dismissing the society’s game farm curator and chief ranger, Mr K. E. Francis. The meeting heard charges laid against the curator by the executive and his answers to them The meeting was stormy at times and a police constable was in attendance. A further special general meeting was requisitioned by members to discuss a motion of no confidence in the executive. A resolution was carried recommending to the executive that it reconsider its action in dismissing Mr Francis. In a statement issued today, Mr J. G. Mulvey, the president of the society, said that the executive had decided that its original decision on the dismissal of Mr Francis must stand. Mr Mulvey also announced his immediate resignation as president of the society.
