HIGH SCHOOL EQUIPMENT

Applications By Cashmere

The Education Department had approved the Cashmere High School’s application for six mats for physical education but had declined an application for a set of balances for the school’s science department, it was reported at the monthly meeting of the board of governors last evening.

The school had applied for two balances that were accurate to within half a per cent, for sixth form work but the Education Department, in its letter to the school, said it considered the present set of balances, which had an error of 2 to 3 per cent., sufficient for the sixth form pupils to work with. “I think the school will have to supply them,” said the headmaster (Mr T. H. McCombs).

“They cost about £l5 but by the time they get here they may be double that.”
