BRITISH SPACE RESEARCH
Press Reaction To Plan Varies
(N.Z. Preus Association—Copyngnt) (Rec. 9 pan.) LONDON, May 13. Britain’s space programme, as outlined yesterday by the Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) was given a qualified welcome by the British press today. Some newspapers thought the programme did not go far enough, others that the Government was right to limit British space research. The programme, as explained in the House of Commons by Mr Macmillan, calls for work to start on the making of British instruments to be carried in earth satellites. A programme for the design and construction of the instruments has been approved.
