Eight-Cylinder Rolls?

The Rolls Royce company is strongly rumoured to be developing the most powerful car the firm has ever built. The makers of the “best car in the world” have never concerned themselves with publicising their product’s power. They have always told inquirers that its horsepower is “sufficient.” But the rumoured Rolls is said to have an eight-cylinder engine, designed specially to appeal to horsepower-conscious Americans. The present Rolls Royce is powered by a six-cylinder engine as have been most cars in the firm’s long history. A few T eight-cylinder “specials” have been built since the war, but only to very distinguished customers who, in the opinion of Rolls Royce, have both the standing and the driving ability to match the car’s quality and power. The new car, expected to be called the Phantom 5, may be introduced late this year or early next.
