Instruction For Young Golfers
“The younger you get them the better they become,” says Mr A. R. Blank, when speaking, as he often does, of coaching young golfers. With that in view, the privilege of playing at the Harewood Young People’s course, and of receiving lessons from professionals and leading amateurs, free of charge, during the coming school holidays has been extended to form two pupils. Hitherto coaching has been only for secondary school pupils.
As usual at this time of the year, the Golf Foundation has a full programme for the youngsters. Next week there will be coaching at Hagley Park. Boys’ classes will be on Monday and Wednesday, girls’ lessons on Tuesday and Thursday. Second Week In the second week of the holidays, the same arrangements will hold, although the coaching will be on the course at Harewood. N. H. Fuller, J. A. Clements and C. C. Clements will be the professional coaches, and the amateurs who will assist will include Miss Z. Hudson and C. W. Caldwell. On the Friday of the second coaching week, there will be a tournament at Harewood, and on the Sunday there will be a special demonstration match between Fuller and R. J. Charles, the former New Zealand open champion. This match should arouse much interest, and should provide some fine golf.
