41 Debutantes Presented
One of the season’s largest debutante balls was held by the St. Mary’s College Old Girls’ Association in the Winter Garden last evening. The president of the association (Mrs J. Husband) presented 41 debutantes to the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. E. M. Joyce).
All the debutantes wore bouffant white frocks and the general decor was in the school colours of blue and white.
Officially-invited guests welcomed to the ball by Mr and Mrs J. Husband were the following:— The Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. E. M. Joyce), the Rt. Rev. Monsignori J. Kennedy and Hanrahan, the Rev. Fathers B. F. Blake. P. Heagney, C. R. Crocker. G. Kane, representatives from suburban parishes, and representatives from kindred associations. The committee responsible for organising the ball included Mesdames J. Husband, M. Adamson. C. Kirk, E. Wenmoth, R. Davey, S. Alexander, I. Bennington, J. Skedden, Misses E. Craig, P. Nolan, and N. Nolan.
Mrs Husband wore a gown of spring-green satin brocade, featuring a boat neckline finished with a flat bow falling from the V-back to the waistline, with a fully-gathered skirt. The vice-president of the association (Mrs R. Adamson) chose Kelly green velvet featuring a high neckline, with the fullygathered skirt falling at the back into soft pleats caught with a diamante clasp.

Brown, K. Butler, B Kissell, A. Craig, J. Polaschek, A. Woodward, E. Ives. M. Sutton, A. Myers, P. Weir, and J. Cropper.
