Work For Sick And Old
During the last year, 122 books and magazines had been distributed to old and sick people by the Soroptimist Club of Christchurch. This was stated in the annual report of the club presented at its annual meeting last evening.
Club members had also distributed scrap books to children at the Christchurch Public Hospital, sent magazines to the men’s wards, and visited sick and elderly people in Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals, the report said. Ten pounds had been given towards the proposed building of flats for displaced persons. Officers elected were: president. Mrs M. McNab: immediate past president. Miss B. L. Loughhead; vice-presidents, Mrs D. J. Wales, Miss M. Steven; executive, Mesdames K. McLaughlin, J. N. Ballantyne, L. I. Cattell, Misses H. K. Lovell-Smith, D. Feaver, R. Goodland; secretary, Miss I. Cleary; treasurer, Miss D. R. Lye; delegates to divisional union. Misses H. K. Lovell-Smith and B. L. Loughhead.
