DIFFICULTIES
Move To Continue Pension At Death
(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 6.
A widow whose husband’s bank account was frozen immediately after his death might have a difficult time until probate was granted, the Auckland delegate, Mr J. B. Chalmers, told the annua] national conference of the New Zealand War Amputees’ Association at New Plymouth today. He was commenting on a remit before the conference which suggested: “That the Government be asked to amend the War Pensions Act, 1954, to permit payment to the surviving spouse of the pension of a deceased war pensioner or his wife, to be continued for the balance of the month in which death occurs, and for the two succeeding months.” The remit was adopted.
