Soccer ENGLISH TEAM’S VISIT UNLIKELY
To Play In Olympic Preliminaries
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 5. The English Football Association might not be able to send a Soccct team to New Zealand in 1960, it was staled at tonight’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association. A letter from the English association to the N.Z.F.A. says:— “We have been advised we shall be required to play in the preliminary competition of the Olympic Games. If we qualify for the Olympic Games it will mean that we cannot send a team to New Zealand. We think it best, therefore, that our visit should be postponed until 1961.”
N.Z. Team Coach Appointed
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 5.
Mr K. Armstrong was appointed coach “under the control and direction of the New Zealand selection panel” of the New Zealand Soccer team at tonight’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association.
