Sweden, which next plays Chile for the right to meet Britain in the quarter-finals, yesterday completed a 5-0 win over Hungary in its first round tie of the European zone in the Davis Cup. In Berlin. Brazil beat West Germany 4-0, with the last match being abandoned because of rain. Brazil meets Poland in the second round At Barbados. Cuba finished with a 4-0 victory over the British West Indies in the first round of the southern section of the American zone.

Fraser Wins First Match At Rome
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ROME. May 5. The top-seeded Australian. Neale Fraser, ran into trouble in winning his first match in the Italian tennis championships today.
Fraser had been expected to beat Luigi Pirro <ltaly) easily, but he had some difficulty before disposing of the little-known Italian, 6-1, 3-6. 6-2. 6-2. The left-handed Australian star failed to capitalise on seven match points in the last set. In the women’s championships. Miss P. Nettleton (New Zealand) lost by default to Miss R. M. Reyes (Mexico).
