League MATCH BEFORE KIWI TRIAL

12 Players Chosen From Provinces

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 6. Twelve Rugby League players from provinces other than Auckland have been chosen for the Red-Blue match before the final Kiwi trial at Carlaw Park on May 16. The rest of the 26 for that game will come from the national training school and Auckland players. The players are:—A. Simpson, J. Merrit (Wellington), A. Goodall, J. Southern, J. Taurakl (Taranaki), G. Farrar, R. Cooke (Waikato), R. Turton, R. Pounsford, K. Pearce, G. Cooper (Canterbury), D. Attewell (West Coast). If players in the national training school at Palmerston North felt they could not afford the week there it would probably not prejudice their selection for the final Kiwi trials. Mr J. E. Knowling, secretary of the New Zealand Rugby League, said today. He was replying to complaints that the players would not receive 'out-of-pocket” expenses while in Palmerston North. Ths day before the Kiwi Rugby League team leaves for Australia, some of its players may be. allowed to play in club games in Auckland. The five South Islanders in the international team to play the training school will arrive in Auckland on May 14, and also the 12 players for the red and blue trial match. The touring team, which will be named on May 16, could also have a match against a local club side as did the World Cup side before leaving for Australia.
