UNDERWATER EXPLORERS: R. Crocker (left) and A. Lawrence examine an impact explosive spearhead for use in capturing large fish underwater. The men are members of the team of four experienced skindivers who will leave New Zealand this month to spend six months in the Hermit Islands, north of New Guinea, where they hope to be able to film and photograph as well as capture many of the big fish there. They have a display at the Industries Fair to assist their funds. At the fair they will have a diver in an aqualung in a big water-filled plastic-fronted tank, a display of coloured scenes of underwater life and some of the equipment they will be using.
