Welcome To The Fair
Manufacturing industry in New Zealand is proud of its achievements and of the advances_made in the standards and efficiency of production. The best way it can show to the public the modern goods made tn New Zealand for New Zealand use is at a New Zealand Industries Fair, so the C ant er bury Manufacturers’ Association is happy to welcome all visitors to the fair. The important pari manufacturing industry is playing in the development of our country, province and city should now need no emphasis the mans big, modern factories you see every day testify to it, But its role must increase It is not merely to provide goods that cannot be obtained from overseas that our factories are always striving for improvements. It is so that New Zealand can continue to enjoy a high standard of living and so that there mil be productive employment for our expanding population. It is to industry that many of our children and their children will look for employment, andin manufacturing industry there will be room for skill, craftsmanship and new ideas. Something of what has been achieved and a glimpse of future developments are shown in the 1959 Industries Fair. With the fair, the Manufacturers’ Association has also set out to provide Canterbury and the city with the festival spirit and gaiety the public has come to expect, almost demand. New attractions have been arranged, and there is new entertainment by some of your old favourites. Members of the association join me in hoping that everyone will find much to enjoy as well as see a great deal of interest at the fair. We are sure they W UI. 3. R. MADDREN, President.
