LONDON, May 5. The Marquess of Hertford today decided to take the advice of a policeman he reported for having been “flagrantly rude” to him, according to the “Daily Sketch."
The 29-year-old Marquess reported he had stopped his car in Birmingham last week and asked Constable Stanley Higgins for directions. He alleged the officer replied: “The day of the paid lackey is over. For only 4s fid you can buy a directory.” The “Daily Sketch” reported that the Marquess, after being told that Birmingham’s Chief Constable (Mr E. J. Dodd) “considered the matter closed,” said today: “I’m going out to buy a street guide of Birmingham.”
