Revision Sought By Party (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 6. A complete revision of the guaranteed price for dairy produce was recommended today by the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party. The conference recommended that a new basis of payment be submitted to the industry after receipt of the report of the present committee of inquiry. A recommendation from the land, agricultural and local bodies committee of the conference on the auditing of books of producer co-operatives was also adopted. The recommendation read: “That the Government be requested to investigate the possibility of ensuring that where producers are directed to supply their products through a producers’ co-operative, the books of the co-operative be audited by the Government’s auditor.” A recommendation that the Government consider expediting the electrification of the railway system was also adopted. Other remits approved recommended that the cost of footwear be investigated, that the Trade Practices and Price Commission be asked to investigate charges of profiteering by jobbing contractors, and that New Zealand should advocate the discontinuance of nuclear tests by all countries.
