NEGRO SHOT IN HEART
BOGALUSA (Louisiana), May 5. Wounds in the heart and lungs, possibly inflicted by a highpowered rifle, caused the death of the negro lynch victim. Mack Charles Parker, a Coroner’s Jury ruled today. Four holes were found in the body, which was pulled from the Pear] river yesterday. Parker apparently was dead when his body was thrown into the river near here.
It was not known whether the post mortem report would be made public. Parker’s body was found yesterday in the Pearl river, the waterway dividing Mississippi and Louisiana here. The F. 8.1., with at least 30 agents on duty, fanned out over south Mississippi and Louisiana searching for clues that might lead them to the nine or 10 hooded white men who abducted Parker, killed him and apparently threw his body off a bridge into the swirling river.
