BY-ELECTION RESULT
Social Credit Satisfaction
“Social Credit has every reason to be well satisfied with the results of the Hamilton by-election,” said the Leader of the Social Credit Political League (Mr W. B. Owen), in a supplied statement yesterday.
“On the preliminary count, the Social Credit vote represents a slight increase on the percentage gained at the last General Election. When it is considered that the tension between the Labour and National Parties was intense, in maintaing its position under such circumstances, Social Credit has every reason to be well satisfied. I would like to congratulate Mr Roberts on a valliant effort.
“The result would be all the more pleasing if we could all feel assured that it meant a curtailment in the advance of socialism, but the National Party’s past record as the Government gives no cause for optimism in this regard,” Mr Owen said.
