CLASSIC EVENT STARTS NEXT FRIDAY A Dividend For Every Investor
Tuatara lizards, boiling mud pools, All Black and other rugged outcrops are among the phenomena which make New Zealand a strange and exciting land to many overseas, but the sociologist could not escape the conclusion that the most prominent New Zealand characteristic is a love of horse racing. The New Zealander likes to have a bet. He will spend more time studying race form and prospects than his children’s school reports, and news of another atomic explosion means less to him than the fall of rain at Awapuni. But the New Zealander also likes to have a win, and nothing appeals to him more than a really reliable investment. In another field, there are really reliable bets too. and foremost among them is the A. J. White Ltd.’s Annual Sale. This year this classic event has been reduced in distance, from two weeks down to one, but the discerning investor will again find just as many items to appeal in quality and cost as ever before—and the firm is noted for the popularity of its sales.
The starting gate will be lifted at 9.15 a.m. on Friday, May 8. and for the second and all subsequent divisions during the following week the time will be 9 a.m. The course has been prepared with all the care and attention to detail typical of the firm, and it will offer excellent going for the shopper. First to show out will be two special numbers . . .
a Cukoo clock of German make, which wafe 30s and will sell at 2s 6d, and also three Kiddies’ Lounge Chairs which were £6 10s —and will be sold at 15s each. All other goods, except a few proprietory lines, have been substantially reduced. With Mother’s Day on May 10. two days after barrier rise at the Sale, there is certain to be a bunched field at the start, but there is something for everyone, from the top-weight to the shopper making her first start. This will almost certainly be the only meeting of the year at which everyone can get a dividend—and one to remember. —PJBA.
