TRAVEL AGENCY’S AFFAIRS
Debenture Holders Appoint Receiver
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 21. The affairs of White’s Travel Service, Ltd., have been placed in the hands of a receiver, Mr E. D. Wilkinson, an Auckland public accountant. His appointment followed a meeting by the debenture holders of the company, of which Tasman Empire Airways is one. White’s Travel Service, Ltd., has no connexion with White’s Aviation, Ltd.. Mr L. L. White, managing director of White’s Aviation, Ltd., said today. Although he was originally connected with the travel agency, he withdrew from it in 1955. he said.
The head office of White’s Travel Service is in Auckland. There are booking offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Subsidiary companies are operating in Sydney, Fiji and Norfolk Island. A bus service owned by the company in Fiji has ceased operations. Mr E. A. Robinson, managing director of the company, declined tonight to give any information about the business. “The firm is not going out of business,’’ he said, “and it is not in liquidation.”
