KHISDAR FOR BRISBANE
Takanini Team Strong (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 14. The large team of Takanini horses in Brisbane for winter racing will be increased when Fountainhead and Aroha arrive there next week-end. Gayfair and Exemption will be the next to go on May 1 and the latest for which bookings have been made is Khisdar. One of V. B. Johnson’s team, Khisdar will leave for Sydney on the way to Brisbane on May 22 He will be accompanied by his trainer and owner, R. H. Gurney, and it is almost certain that he will be ridden in his Australian engagements by the successful Te Rapa light-weight, W. A. Smith, an Australian who came to the Dominion in 1956. A six-year-old gelding by Khorassan from Amusing, Khisdar has recently recaptured his best form, having had two firsts and a second in his last four attempts. Middledistances seem to suit him best and his principal engagement in Brisbane will be the Doomben Cup, of £lO.OOO and Gold Cup valued at £2OO, of a mile and three furlongs less 19 yards, on July 11. It is unlikely that Khisdar’s stay will be prolonged and his trainer hopes to return within six weeks.
