Vice-Regal Invitation
Lady Cobham has invited members of the Auckland Darby and Joan Club to an afternoon tea in the grounds of Government House, Auckland. The invitation was extended yesterday when Lady Cobham accompanied the Gov-ernor-General (Lord. Cobham) on a visit to the club’s centre in Nelson street. Mr F. E. Fouhy, Official Secretary to the GovernorGeneral, said last night that the function would be held some time after the next fortnight. Twenty or 30 years ago, said Mr Fouhy, war veterans were invited to Government House, but there had been no receptions of this kind for many years.—(P.A.)
