DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM

“ Recommendation Of Committee

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 4.

Fourteen recommendations for the development of the tourist industry in New Zealand had come forward from the four subcommittees of the Tourist Advisory * Committee, said the Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts (Mr Mathison) after a meeting today of the committee, of which he is chairman. These recommendations covered prospects of the industry, and economic, financial, administrative and promotional aspects. The four reports and their recommendations were discussed at length during the meeting, - said Mr Mathison. Now, all material would be collated in a final report of the full committee. This report would be prepared by the Tourist Department for the committee, and submitted to the Cabinet as soon as possible. “Apart _ from being an invaluable indication to the Government of the opinions of an objective group of experts on the value and needs of the tourist industry, the report will serve as the basis for action by the consultative tourist committee which be formed," said Mr Mathison.
