Crash-Landing At Bangkok

A British Canberra jet bomber today made a successful crashlanding on a crowded Bangkok airfield. The aircraft, from the Malayan-based 49 Squadron, was taking part ina S.E.A.T.O. exercise.
The wheels of the Canberra stuck half-way up when it left on a sortie, and it circled the airairport for two hours, burning up fuel. The Thai Air Force laid a 1000foot carpet of foam on the runway, and the Canberra came in for a perfect belly landing. As it skidded to a stop a French medical team in two helicopters hovered overhead and then dipped their aircraft in salute when they saw the British fliers were unhurt.
The aircraft was not badly damaged.
