MINISTER BUILDS A BRIDGE
Mr Connolly Works With Army Trainees “The Press’* Special Service LAKE TEKAPO, Feb, 19. The Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) became a , territorial trainee at the Tekapo Military Camp this afternoon. Dressed in jungle green and wearing the regulation cap as aprivate, he was inspecting the trainees of the 3rd Field Regiment of the New Zealand Engineers and became so interested in the construction of a Bailey bridge that he Anally joined in the work. With eight cither privates and under the command of a sergeant he joined in the. combined effort required to roll and -place the bridge across a stream. He stayed with the engineers for nearly an hour. The Minister also visited the 3rd Field Artillery, a troop of signallers and the Otago University Medical Corps.
