Slight Drop In Tanneries Work
In the New Zealand tanning industry in- the 1957-58 production year the volume of production dropped by 3 per cent and persons engaged fell by 2.3 per cent, says the report of the Department of Statistics. In two years' the volume of production has declined by 14.6 per cent. A substantial decrease in the production of sheep leather accounted for most of the latest decline. Hide, yearling, and calf leather showed small Increases over the previous year, says the report.
