Hydatids
Sirr-Dr. Douglas is doubtful whether my suggestions to farmers to use bluestone to spray pastures, and oil of chenopodium as a drench, to deal with the menace of hydatid infection, “would be practical or effective.” I am sorry he uses the wet blanket. I have been very successful over the last 25 years in treating many thousands of horses for internal parasites in spite of the opposition of some veterinary bureaucrats. Mr Trotter, of South Canterbury, proved the efficiency of bluestone without any encouragement from those engaged officially in research. Any farmer willing to adopt my suggestions will probably be glad that he did so. “Never venture, never win.” —Yours, etc., HIRAM HUNTER. February 16, 1959.
