POLIO INJECTION PROGRAMME
No Immediate Extension Although the Health Department in Auckland is extending its poliomyelitis immunisation programme this year to include one-year-old children, no authority has been given for that step to be taken in ’ Christchurch yet. The Medical Officer of Health (Dr. A. Douglas) said yesterday that the department here would be using up its vaccine to administer second and third injections to about 10,000 children who. were given their first or second injections last year. These children were mostly of pre-school age and the programme would be begun early in March. However, Dr. Douglas said, a start would probably be made on the poliomyelitis immunisation of one-gaar-old children some time thia year.
