“Relaxed And Gay"
“My aim has been to create an atmosphere both relaxed and gay,” said Miss Elizabeth Tipping, who designed and decorated A. R. Guthrey’s new travel agency in Cashel street. Miss Tipping said the semi-open plan for the reception desk and the executives’ office was in keeping with the latest trends, and introduced a note of informality. The stone-fronted reception desk is curved and on two levels. “The use of three tones of caramel in the walls, carpet and stone-work is restful, and a decorative effect is achieved with contrasting textures —the smoothness of the walls highlighting the roughness of the stone counter and the plant trough. “Accent colours of tangerine and blue add sufficient gaiety to harmonise with a holiday mood,” Miss Tipping said.
