Lower Grade Results

Ninth-round games in the Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions were completed on Saturday. Lower grade games resulted as follows: SECOND GRADE A Riccarton 334 for nine declared beat Marist 302 (O’Brien 80, Stewart 59, Sheehy 50; Dickey five for 71) on the first Innings. High School Old Boys 220 (Britton 48) and 43 for none beat Sydenham 154 and 106 (Hicks four for 20) by 10 wickets. West-University 333 beat Boys’ High School 202 (Stevens 82, Hadlee 43; Dunn five for 26) and 97 for five on the first innings. Lancaster Park 259 and 57 (Harper six for 24) beat Technical Old Boys 204 (Rose six for 50) and 82 for three on the first innings. SECOND GRADE B High School Old Boys 90 (Torrens five for 25) and 209 for six declared (Baxter 112 not out) beat Lancaster Park 113 and 107 (Voice five for 51) outright West-University 275 for seven (Kennedy 69, Poole 48, Hickford 48) beat St. Albans 269, on the first innings. East Christchurch 257 beat St. Al-bans-Teachers’ College 143 and 100 (Adamson six for 28) by an innings and 14 runs. Old Collegians 226 (Shaw 90, Hutchinson 48) beat Christ’s College 205 (Crichton 52) and 99 for one (Ormond 55 not out) on the first innings. SECOND C GRADE St. Andrew’s 277 for five declared (Logie 101 not out. Waters 47, Hayes 46) beat Linwood High School 165 and 74 for four on the first innings. West High School 165 (Fuller 61, Thompson 59; Ripley five for 25) beat Papanui High School 151 (Smith 54; Fuller four for 35) and 119 for eight on the first innings. St. Bede’s 71 and 148 for seven (Foley 61 not out) beat Boys’ High School 45 and 165 for eight declared (Nevin six for 39) by three wickets. Xavier 206 (Lane 74) and 88 for three beat Christ’s College 190 (Hawkins four for 40) and 99 (Ryall six for 29) by seven wickets. ’ SECOND GRADE D Riccarton 268 for seven declared beat West-University 71 and 191 (Hanna 68 not out; Cowan five for 83) by an innings and 6 runs. Technical Old Boys 333 (Eggers 107, Hughes 60) bgat Old Collegians 227 (Johnston 63; Gray five for 47) and 149 for six (Warren 54 not out) on the first innings. St. Albans 120 and 80 for four beat Marist 101 and 97 (McLauchlan six for 32) by six wickets. PRESIDENT’S GRADE Technical Old Boys 105 (Smith 56; Gardner seven for 48) beat WestUniversity 76 (Hart, four for 21) and 35 for two on the first innings. Old Collegians 98 (Norman 48) beat St. Albans 97 (Moor -four for 26) on the first innings. Marist 166 for five (Sinclair 74, Lawlor 66) beat Sydenham 164 on the first innings. Lancaster Park A 247 for five declared (Hills 80 not out, Withers 72) drew with Lancaster Park B 156 for nine. High School Old Boys 191 for seven beat Riccarton 80 (Christmas five for 13, Escott four for 24) on the first innings. THIRD GRADE A St Albans 247 for six declared and 48 for six declared (Chinnery five for 18) beat Lancaster Park 160 (Lawson 48, Newnham 47 not out: Martin four for 21, Smith four for 36) and 48 for two on the first innings. West-University B 121 and 293 (Little 157, Dann 43; Hammond four for 36) beat Old Collegians 146 and 85 (Dann five for 32) outright. High School Old Boys 220 (McPherson 43) beat Riccarton 61 (Belcher seven for 35) and 58 (Belcher six for 16) by an innings and 101 runs.

East Christchurch 149 and 129 for nine declared (Penrose 51 not out, Davis 51; Tiplady five for 29) beat West-University 78 and 102 outright. / ; Third Grade B . Sydenham 163 for five declared (Brahns 72 not out) beat Lancaster Park 66 (Larking four for 12, Sweeney four for 16) and 37 for none on the first innings. St. Albans 84 for four, (Molloy 40) beat Marist 82 (Sutherland four for 21) on the first innings. St. Albans-Teachers* College 243 for six declared (Gardiner 160) beat Old Collegians 123 (Wait 57, Stevens six for 25) on the first innings. Riccarton 136 (Altandishliev six for 44) beat Technical Old Boys 105 (McIntyre four for 15) on the first innings. -East Christchurch 169 for six (Jackson 56 not out) WestUniversity 164 (Berkeley 70) on the first innings. Third Grade C St, Andrew’s 120 apd 111 beat Linwood High School 156 (Bradshaw five for 34) and 63 (Bradshaw four for 24) outright. Christchurch Technical 230 for three declared (Briton 101 not out, Martin 43) beat Christ’s College B 64 (Aker four for 1, Craig four for 13) and -120 by an innings and 46 runs.

St. Bede’s 125 and 162 for six declared (Solia 44 not out) beat Boys High School B 92 and 132 (Mannix four for 51) by an innings and 63

Fourth Grade A Shirley High School Old Boys 167 (Randall 68; Pannell five for 52) beat East Christchurch, 71 (Mullins four for, 14) .and 62 for six on the first innings.

Christ’s College A 119 (O'Sullivan five for 2J) beat St. Bede's A 45 (Vernon six for 10) and 43 for six on the first innings. St. Andrew’s A 154 for nine declared (Dennis five for 37) and 54 for three beat Boys High School 117 (England five for 39) and 83 (Rainey six for 32, England four for 37) by seven wickets. St. Andrew’s B 143 (Allan 41; Willetts four for 36) beat Christ’s College 129 (Parr 58 not out, Orchard six for 31) on the first innings.
