University Entrance The names of successful Candidates in the 1958 university entrance examinations will be published in “The Press” tomorrow. The list is strictly confidential until published. Canberra Flight The second of the two Royal New Zealand Air Force Canberra jet bombers visiting New Zealand is due to fly over Christchurch at 3.37 p.m. today on its way from Ohakea to Wigrain, where it is due at 3.45 p.m. Piloted by the commander of No. 75 Squadron in Malaya (Squadron Leader G. R. B. Highet, of Wellington), with Flight Lieutenant C. N. Hanson, of Papatoetoe, as navigator, the Canberra will fly over 11 North Island centres on the way. An Air Force spokesman said that the arrival time depended on suitable weather. Other demonstration flights are planned for both islands before the two aircraft return to their 'base in Singapore next week. Details of these will be announced later.—(P.A.) More Tomatoes Very heavy supplies of hothouse tomatoes from Nelson were received at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday. At auction, prices dropped sharply and the Nelson variety sold for about 8s to 10s a 201 b case. Local glasshouse crops, nearing the end of their season, sold for Is 5d per lb. Reports from Nelson indicate that future supplies of outdoor tomatoes will be light. In the shops, tomatoes from Nelson were selling for about Is 3d per lb and locally grown from Is to 2s per lb. A large supply of cucumbers was also available at the market and sold for about 5s a case. Red Cross Stamp A special Red Cross surcharged stamp will be issued in June, the Postmaster-General (Mr Moohan) announced yesterday. The stamp, which will be sold for 4d, will have a postage value of 3d. It will have a blue background with a red cross incorporated in the design. The proceeds from the surcharge will be used to help the work of the New Zealand Red Cross Society. The date of issue will coincide with the centenary of the battle of Solferino, where the Austrians met the French and the Italians on the Lombardy plains. During this battle Henri Dunant, a Swiss, conceived the ideal which led to the International Red Cross.—(P.A.) Sales Of State Houses The State Advances Corporation had sold 15,000 State rental houses since 1950, said the Minister of Housing (Mr Fox) in Auckland yesterday afternoon, when opening the corporation's new building in Rutland street.— (P.A.) Burns Memento An interesting Bums association in Invercargill is an oval-shaped horn magnifying glass given to the museum by the late Mr W. A. McCaw, of that city. It bears the poet’s initials. The glass was given in friendship by Burns to Mr Macaw’s grandfather, who handed it to his son on his departure for New Zealand in 1880.
